As Jennifer Dombrowski moved to Italy in 2009, she was not on vacation.
She had lived and worked in Arizona when her husband was transferred by his military work in a small town in northern Italy. He asked his employer if he could continue his work as a social media strategist for a university for a trial period of six months of his new home near Venice.
"This has become probationary period of six months in six years," he told Business Insider.
Almost immediately after his arrival in Italy, the couple started a blog to detail his adventures hobby for family and friends at home. This blog has become travelers luxury adventures, advice and customer support for projects related to travel. For example, for a takeover Dombrowski prepares the food and wine Instagram for French tourist office. They also allow some of Davis Photography with other companies and Dombrowski works as a travel writer who contributes professional. The site currently provides about 30% of total sales.
In the first six years abroad Dombrowski kept his job in the US, with regular hours and kept Davis its military contribution. limited by their schedules, they travel every whim deliver unable. Instead, they sat down with their schedules and marks the time to take them out and traveling together.
Instead of spending weekends or breaks the rest at home, "we will ensure that you can always have something planned to do at the time," Dombrowski said. "After the weekend and be in Europe, you can go as many places as driving or take a journey through the budget."
Once she left to focus on the site full-time work, however, he had to find a new routine. "It was difficult to find the right balance, because the interesting part for the reader is that you are on the way, but they are not nomads as many travel bloggers," he said. "We have about 20 countries to travel every year, and now we are half or less than half of them. It is to find things that interest us and our readers are interested."
Life in Bordeaux, where they moved earlier this year, making the mix work and travel easier than it might be otherwise. "I work all day, prepare projects," Dombrowski said. "But after you are done or if I need a break, I can leave this beautiful city - go to climb the tower and get a fresh look, or to go to a big museum, or jump on the train and go you for a tasting a wine shop ".
