"Since we organized the forum, staff input, we checked at the various tables received, and I am pleased to report on some examples of the progress achieved so far by containing elements this into action," said Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden in board meeting on July 26.

The significance of housing has been a hot topic in the forum of online rental sites like Airbnb and the threat.

"The people, the community and the Whistler Housing Authority provide for the owners more incentives have asked that restrict rental space for the residents," Wilhelm-Morden said. "The staff report that the study of current research looking at the accommodation sector and short-term rental RMOW effects will help to find solutions."

There were many comments on the transport, including improvements to the traffic on the ground and in the hallway, creative proposals related to new roads and tariff systems and the importance of promoting the Valley Trail, the mayor said.

"The community is very active in this area with the Consultative Group on Transport and all comments received during the community forum at its last meeting was divided," he said. "We can expect to learn about transportation solutions in the coming months."

Comments on tourism were jointly with the Committee on Economic Partnership initiative, while water consumption are tips RMOW change its current rules for water use in the next six months.

Comments about things like fire safety, energy consumption and childcare are also being developed.

"In some cases, has been shared with our partners ... in other cases, the entry in the next process in 2017 and the budget planning of the company will be taken into consideration," said the mayor.

It costs less than home studios

Local artists display their work at the municipal building under temporary use permit to sell hopes (TUP) could be charged less than what he intended to do.

At the meeting on July 26, where a change in the regulation proposed tax cut of $ 750-600 $ first three readings.

Artists can in annual installments of $ 200, pay an annual fee of $ 250 if they want to extend to the first three years.

The reduction in prices was made possible after the first trial of "Audit Committee" - in which a committee will approve the art of home studio is sold - was replaced by a review by Whistler Arts site.

Whistler Arts is now the approval of artists and craftsmen offer their applications written to take TUP.

Without the process of verification of the Commission, the process costs for the RMOW every requirement, reduced, which has low rates of consequence.

Whistler Arts also plans, the cost of a small number of TUP cover applications, so you can study the program's success.

Thanks to a federal grant Whistler Arts is ready for the first two years of TUP to pay 10 to 12 studies at home.

"We hope that many actually come forward, that would be great," said Maureen Douglas, Interim Executive Director of Whistler Arts. "We know that some people is new ... but if there are artists who have thought about it, it's a great way to get involved."

The RMOW has received no request for tups home study so far.
