KARACHI: to encourage women to work independently and celebrate their hard work path, University of Karachi (KU) Center of Excellence for Women's Studies pays tribute to all those women who work at home to earn their bread and butter.

Over 20 stalls were in the middle of the park set up studies of women, where women sell various Landhi and Korangi handmade items on the day of women. Naila Umar, handmade bags and purses sold with his mother, Saeeda, said: "We need at least two months to complete sold a bag at affordable prices."

Afshan, a resident of Korangi, told The Express Tribune that it takes to prepare a sandal two hours, sells for only 150 rupees. "I help my father to make sandals for our house," he said, while the sole of a sandal fixing he did. In the other positions, dresses, bracelets, plates and painted bags they were exposed for sale. The ministry has donated money and women, the installed booths at the event.

A seminar entitled "Women in Pakistan self" was also organized by the Commission for Higher Education, Department of Social Work of KU and Anjuman-e-Taraqqi Niswan at the University, in collaboration.

The event was organized to celebrate the International Women's Day and to spread to other women about their rights. Opening the event, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Waseem Akhtar said the role of women is essential for the development of society. "I am very pleased that the women's organized day at regular intervals in KU, the [increased] knowledge of the rights of women," he said.

Speaking of the law on the protection of women [Punjab], Akhtar said the bill is laudable, but the criticism is discriminatory for women. "Our party has fought hard for the rights of women at all levels," he said.

KU Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Dr. Moonis Ahmar was of the view that much has been said and written about the empowerment of women, but it was now the right time to do something. "The way of thinking that women are not equal to men must be changed," he said, adding that the role of women in the country's development can not be ignored, since they are an integral part of our society.

Encourage students in vocational and technical training, KU School of Management and Administrative Sciences Dean Dr. Khalid Iraqi participate, women said in the rural areas of the country life, are the real game changer. Iraqi stressed that women provide a safe environment where they can receive training and their duties without fear.

Centre of Excellence for Women Director Dr. Nasreen Aslam Shah believes that girl to combat discrimination, have to be strong. "We are fortunate that we women who work hard, but did not receive a reward for their work in society," he said, adding that violence and child abuse are the main challenges of the company, which must be addressed.
